My History Page

The story so far........…

I started learning the Accordion at the age of seven, and as a
youngster I played in concerts, for various charities, churches,
benefit clubs etc.

While I was learning, I would play the left hand on the 'Box',
and play the tune with my right hand on my grannies draw-bar pedal organ, hence why I now play Accordion and Synthesisers together.

I was the first to do this as proffessional portable keyboards and synthesisers were not even invented at that time, and I have continued this theme ever since.

I studied various pro accordionists, organists keyboard players etc. and listened to the style and music they were playing, the best of them being the Tower Ballroom organists in Blackpool, who could play any type of music including Scottish, which some accordionist's would have found hard to keep up with them. I also at that time heard someone play a cordovox with the sound of bells and chimes ringing through the venue, I was totally hooked.....

No more strictly traditional, continental or classical for me, give me rock/pop and country or whatever any day!!!!

At sixteen I progressed into pubs and clubs and
eventually at 22, joined a four piece band for about seven years, playing all over the country at functions, weddings etc.
Since then I've worked with various vocalists and
musicians and still do to this day.

I have been self employed since 1993 and have found due to the advance in technology, that I've been able to take my Accordion places that the Traditionalist would frown upon.

I now am able to play anything the listener wants, from really old tunes, to the latest in chart music.

I always tried to be different from the ordinary 'Box' player,
and I will strive to keep it that way.....…

Television Appearances:

I am registered as an Assistant Actor ('EXTRA' as they used to call it) and have appeared in
various Films and T.V shows such as: :
Rab C Nisbet, Taggart, Mr Wymi and other children's shows and Films

Maybe sound good but can assure you its NOT!!.

Cast calls are normally around 6:30am with filming beginning around 8:30am.
Filming can last up to 2 Hours
BUT
you can be on location till midnight or beyond,
mostly hanging around doing nothing in between times, (it's a long day).

I once did a 'Taggart' episode, was on location in Glasgow at 7am (took me 45mins to get there) and didn't get home until 1:30 am the following morning.
I was paid £54, and it cost me £12 to park my car for the day,
however I can say I've been there and done that, seen how it works, and hopefully wont need to do it again….

My advice to you all is WATCH SOMEONE ELSE DO IT on T.V
